December Challenge

Phew just made it in time for the close of the December Challenge.....my challenge......oops have had this page done for ages just haven't taken a pic of it, but never fear fatithful and loyal followers here it is.

I stuck pretty close to the sketch but perhaps do need to add a bit more journalling. Used lots of glimmer, texture paste (thanks to the lovely Miss Kim for showing me how to do it). All the gorgeous chippies are from Scrapmatts, flowers, key, leaf ribbon and tiny twine from Craft Queen.

Only one day to go can you do it too? Would love to see, hugs and love Annette xo

DECEMBER CHALLENGE

Well he's making a list and checking it twice and will find out whose naughty or nice!!
It is nearly that time of the year again, love it or hate it, there is no escaping all the lights, tinsel, Santas and the trappings of the season.
Soooo with all this madness around I decided to break from tradition, I think that puts me on the naughty list, and make our challenge for the month a bit different. It has two parts, first is a pretty awesome sketch, designed by the wonderful Miss Annnette (that's me) with the following criteria - a Xmas pic must be used but no tradional Xmas colours ie red, green, gold, silver plus no Xmas embellies. Xmas sentiments yes but nothing else Christmassy.

To kick things off we have one of the most gorgeous, lovely, sweet and talented lady that I have had the pleasure of meeting irl and giving squishy hugs to..........the incredible LEANNE JAGO.

"Howdy, its me Leanne..or as many of you know me LJ..
I'm a mum of two mostly gorgeous children who say the darnest
things and are growing up so quickly.. the whole reason i scrap is the therapy
i get from getting my hands dirty and being able to zone out from the world
and truly relax.. Sure the bi-product of having all those memories is an added
bonus thats for sure.
I'm currently part the design teams for Show Us Your Stuff, Rainbow Splendour,
Lil Red Rocket and ScrapMatts.
Thank you for letting me be a part of Orange Paperie & Co for the month of
December. Annette has provided a Gorgeous Sketch and the bonus of doing
a Chrissy layout without the traditional colours is so refreshing .. so why not
have a go at this one.. "
Here is the sketch, while it looks a bit squashed it is meant to be done as a 12x12.

And here we have LJ's gorgeous take on it, totally love the pic and how she has intrepreted the sketch.

Now the rest of us will have our pages up within the next couple of days but I thought I would pop in a couple of sneak peeks of my page, after all it is my challenge.
So what do you think???

Would love to see your comments and of course your pages, until then.

Hugs and love

Annette xo

Kim's November Challenge

WoW!!!
November.....thoughts of organizing that special day of the year are starting to enter our minds. It's always such a busy time....especially in this house....sigh!
Makes me feel tired just thinking about it.
Putting those festive thoughts aside, just for now..... it's time to introduce my Guest Designer for November.
drumroll please!!!!!

November's Guest Designer is.....
the very talented......
                                       Gwen Wruck

I decided this month to ask Gwen a few questions and to show us a photo of her scrap space.

Q1. How did you discover Scrapbooking? I'm a card maker from way back and saw scrapbooking at a Craft Show around 10 years ago... My mum who was with me at the time said "oh, you should do that" so I bought some paper and had a go :) My first layout was of my pet cat "Hamlet" and no, I will not show you - it's too embarrassing!!

Q2. Your top 3 scrapbooking online stores? Craft Queen (http://www.craftqueen.com.au/index.php) because you will always find something unique, Scrap Friends for all the essentials (http://scrapfriends.com.au/) and ETSY.

Q3. What type of camera do you have? My husband loves photography so we have a few cameras in our house!!... The main one I use is a Nikon D5000 it is a great camera that is not too technical - I also have a Nikon CoolPix S9100 which I have in my handbag at all times for surprise photo opportunities!
Q4. Favorite products at the moment? *Sigh* Now that's a tough question...just one?? I'm going to say Gesso.. I use it on almost every layout I am doing lately whether it be with a template or with Impasto medium swiped onto the background or to soften the colors of embellishments/flowers etc. I know its technically an art supply but for me, it is everywhere right now!

Q5. Who inspires YOU? I know its a cliché but what inspires me to create the most would have to be my family and their support of my hobby. I get so much joy from watching Caitlin (my dd) and Chris (my dh) look through our albums and WOW over the pages I have lovingly made for them. They don't see the "latest products" or how technically good or bad they are, they just love that I have created something for and about them. I so so LOVE a colour challenge for inspiration and using different colour combos. I also do a lot of blog hopping and am very addicted to INSTAGRAM for photo inspiration.

Thanks so much for inviting me to be November's guest design team member I feel very honored and I've had a blast!
Gwen
And here is a pic of Gwen's Scrap/Craft Space.

Gorgeous space, Gwen!!!!

So now you know who is helping the team to inspire you, lets take a look at this months CHALLENGE.
I decided it would be fun to do a BASE CHALLENGE....that is where I give you the start of your layout and you build on what I give you.....

 The BASE looks like.....

and Gwen's take looks like...

Stunning Gwen......Thank you so much for joining us at Orange Paperie & Co.... your work is beautiful!!!!
Now over to Mary.....

Kim Gave us a base to build on this month and I really enjoyed playing with Texture Paste and mists . Thanks Kim for the Great Challenge & Thanks to Annette for the Template I used for the circles.

Mary. X

Now the Devine Miss Annette....

Well the gorgeousness that is the lovely Miss Kim has given us a fantastic challenge for this month and I have to admit that I really enjoyed doing it. The base leaves so much room for intrepretation and creativity that the mind goes into overdrive.

This is my take on it, an adorable photo of my nephew Logan taken by a friend of my sister, the pic really called for quite a simple page to highlight, not distract or overwhelm.

I am totally loving BoBunny pp atm for black and white pics, the owl button was made by me, pretty clever chicky here.

Well I hope that you have as much fun as I have had and can't wait to see what you do with this.

Hugs and love Annette

And last but not least, ( my), Kim's take on the BASE challenge.... I kept it pretty simple as I just love this pic taken of Sidney last Wednesday (31st Oct).

So there we have it ladies.....hope to see lots of entries into this challenge and hope we have inspired and another BIG thank you to the wonderful Gwen for adding to the inspiration....

Cheers and Happy Scrapping from

ORANGE PAPERIE & CO.

October Challenge

Another month has flown by and it is my turn to set the new challenge and introduce our Guest Designer for the month of October.
So seeing I have been on a beautiful Fijian Holiday my challenge is.............. to use these colours

Yep I am still in Tropical mode. You can use the colours anyway you like. The only criteria is for journalling. And now to introduce to you our Guest Designer for the month...... The Beautiful....... Lizzy Hill !

and here is a little about Lizzy

My name is Lizzy Hill & I began scrapping in 2009 after coming home from a trip overseas. Mum encouraged me to ‘give it a go’ as a way of getting my photos sorted. It opened up a whole new world which I just adore. Blogging seemed to be a natural extension of scrapping – thus I’ve managed to combine a whole pile of ‘loves’ - photography, writing & scrapping!
My style is madly eclectic. I’ll give anything a go & I LOVE the ‘love’ of belonging to this Scrappy Community…blog hops & challenges are such fun! There’s nothing like getting a scrappy surprise in the mail – this extends me, ‘cos I like to use what I’m sent….so I have to move outside my ‘safety zone’.  And I think that always helps us grow as scrappers!
I scrap cards & OTP’s [off the page projects] as well as layouts. I don’t consider myself artistic – but I do really enjoy colour combinations. That may come from my dim, dark past as a hairdresser! I was also an English teacher…but my boys are grown up, I have my first grand-child [see LO!] & I’m pretty much enjoying the good life these days. Not complaining at all…
I’ve been on the Design Team over at Scrap Friends for around 6 months – it’s my first serious ‘gig’ & that’s been a learning curve that I’ve really enjoyed.
I’ve also been published in Scrapbooking Memories quite a bit this year, as well as winning a few online competitions. That’s all given me an extra bit of confidence in my scrapping. Sometimes layouts go together really easily – sometimes they fight me every inch of the way….the layout I’m sharing with you today was the former. And I’ve used a few ‘different’ ideas that you might like to give a go.
See the Purple Pumpkin button? I’ve chopped it in half…this idea came from the lovely Chantelle. My scissors didn’t like the idea very much, but my wallet did!
There’s a flower tucked underneath. It’s made of paper towel – the stuff from the kitchen. I often use this when I’m misting – which I did for the top ‘sea blue’ flower [which is die cut from old packaging!]…saw the outline on the paper towel & decided to cut it out...it looked too nice to waste!
And I thought of another idea for Washi tape [which I LOVE] – threaded it through the little heart! The glassine bag holds my journaling.
This was a FUN challenge to do – I’m sure you’ll find it will be too. Hope to see lots of you joining in this month with the lovely ladies here at Orange Paperie & Co!
I love visitors stopping by my blog, so drop by and see me at Lizzy Hill …yep, thrilling name…but easy for me to remember! Cheerio for now…

and Lizzy's gorgeous layout

and the journalling

Thank you Lizzy for being doing us the honour of being our Guest Designer this month.
My Layout is of gee let me guess ??? Yep you got it Fiji :)

Now I will hand you over to Kim and Annette for their take on the challenge and look forward to seeing lots of entries
Cheers
Mary

Hi Kim here,
Don't you just love the summer feel of those colours!!! Thanks Mary for the great challenge....

here is my layout

Hope to see lots of entries and thanks  Lizzy for joining us this month!

Happy Scrapping
Kim.

and of course we have saved the best till last hehehe...........I loved the colours in this and they were just perfect for this beautiful pic of my gorgeous great neice Lailah.

As you can see I used all the colours for this page and just love how it turned out, was inspired by two lovely pages in the current issue of Scrapbook Creations.

How gorgeous is Lizzy's take on our challenge, wow thanks.

So looking forward to seeing your take on this, hugs and love Annette xo

SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE

Oh my goodness, September already, and time for another awesome (because I have set it) challenge and a new Guest designer.
So without further ado I would like to introduce you all to Cheryl O'Brien who is a very close friend of us here at Orange Paperie.

Cheryl O'Brien
I discovered scrapbooking in 2001 when I was living on the Central Coast, or  I should say I discovered my first scrapbooking magazine, Creating Keepsakes, it had me intrigued and I knew I wanted to try this craft, but my options were limited as I could not find a scrapbooking store  anywhere on the Coast.  I eventually found my first store after moving to the country in 2002 and came across Joys Paperworks in a neighbouring town whilst shopping one day,  I was almost beside myself, excitement plus!! Needless to say, I went home that day with lots of goodies and thus my obsession began.

I don’t really know that I have a particular style, though of late I am tending towards layering a lot more than I used to and doing a lot of distressing etc  and am finding the results quite pleasing.
Cheryls Scrap Room

There are a whole lot of very talented scrappers out there, all with their own unique style  and I admire each and every one of them, though  I must admit my all time favourite is Julie Winks. I just love all her work, it’s candy for the eyes.

I don’t really do a lot of online shopping as I prefer to suss out scrapping stores wherever I go and stock up then, but when I do shop online  I would have to say that Scrapboxx ,Shop and Crop and  Scrap Therapy are my three top picks.

The Challenge for this month is a recipe, I like recipes they tend to take a lot of the guess work out of what you have to do but still allow for lots of creative flow.

You will need the following ingredients -

1 black and white pic
ribbon
chippy/s
inking
distressing
and a two word title

So what do you think, not all that difficult, the main thing is to have lots of fun with it.

Here we have Cheryl's absolutely gorgeous take, totally love all the beauiful layering, stunning flowers, use of the punch and lovely butterflies, such a stunning page.

Mine is a bit more simplier but I loved how it turned out. All the awesome boy embellies on the page came from My2angels http://www.my2angels.net/p/7551/Boys-ONLY-Embellishment-Kit.html and is from their Boys only embellie kit, just perfect for this pic of my 3 cheeky nephews.

I made the banner from the pages of an old book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and used cotton twine, the pp is Kaiser and the alphas are old ones I had in my stash, forgot I had them actually.

Now Kim decided to do a Lou and came up with......
                                {Meeting Julie}

So I hope that you will come and play with us and cook up a storm.

Hugs and love
Annette xo

(We will be back to announce the winner of the August Colour Challenge in the next few days).

Hello Mary here, running a bit late with mine. Still trying to get back into the swing of things after being at Navutu in Fiji and seriously lacking mojo. Anyway last night I sat down and got stuck into creating my layout 5c Buster.

This is a layout of my hubby and his dog Buster, I will put the story on my blog. Can't wait to see what you all come up with
Cheers

Sneak peak

With only three days to go until our next challenge I thought I would give a little teaser of my page.

Plus a little hint about the challenge itself, it will be a challenge that requires you in the kitchen hmmmm wonder what that means??????

That is all you get, bribery will be considered (depending on how good it is) if you can't wait, hahaha.

Until then hugs and love Annette x

 Welcome to AUGUST scrappy friends!!!!

Well,  do we have some scrappy inspiration for you this month......as our blog post title, tells you this month I'm setting you a colour challenge, but before I show you the gorgeous colours I would like to introduce you to our Guest Designer for August......

                                                Donna White

Hi! My name is Donna White and I live on the outskirts of a small country town in the Darling Downs, Queensland . Some of you may know me from various forums as Dondon.

I am a mother to two amazing teenage girls, Kirsten, 15 and Amanda 13, who have been my scrapping subjects for the last 9 years. I also enjoy scrapping about my life, my friends (and their children) Oh, and my husband LOL

I have recently discovered art journaling as well, so it is quite common to see my hands covered in ink and paint.

You can find my blog at http://donna-white.blogspot.com.au . (Pop in and say Hi!)

I am currently serving my second term on the Scrap the Girls DT and feel honoured to be asked to be a guest designer for Orange Paperie..

So my challenge is for you to use the colours in this pic to inspire you!!!

Firstly Donna's gorgeous layout.....

Kim's......

Annette's.....

 Super gorgeous Miss A....

Now Miss Mary added her layout a few days ago.......below

Hello friends,
As I am going to be away for Miss Kim's challenge I have got my layout done and hopefully Kim or Annette will upload it for me. Firstly I must say I LOVE the colours that Kim has chosen and I had fun doing this layout. I was inspired by Kim and Julie Winks to try the Salt and Ink technique and I love the result. My layout if of a photo I took on the beautiful island of Patmos.
I look forward to seeing everyone's layouts when I get home

Cheers
Mary x

So girls hope you have been inspired and we can't wait to see your layouts for August. You have until the end of August to enter.

Happy Scrapping

Miss Marys Challenge

Well lovely peeps here is my take on our first challenge set by the lovely Mary. Brief was to scrap a childhood memory and while I can't recall all of this time, the one thing that I do remember is eating mulberries on the other side of the river waiting for the boat to take us back across, also that the steps cut into the river bank seemed very steep and slippery.

How cool though to be rowed across the river (Belmore NSW) to go to school (Belmore Public).
So do you have a childhood memory to scrap? Come and join in.
Hugs and love Annette x

Our very First Challenge !

Hello  and welcome to our very first Challenge ! :)  We hope that you will join us and we can inspire each other and challenge each other in our scrapbooking journey.
For our first challenge I would like you to scrap a Childhood Memory. So it maybe a favourite doll or teddy bear, a holiday, anything that reminds you of your childhood. The only criteria is to have some journalling to tell the story. So have fun, enjoy the journey back to your childhood and please share your amazing layouts with us
I am using the layout I also used for Miss Annette's colour challenge on facebook. This is me at the Tennis Courts down from my family home. I spent a lot of time here growing up. You can read the story on my blog
http://www.mbennetts.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/memories-of-childhood.html
Mary

Gorgeous Mary!!!
Love that MME paper and your soft colours!!!!

A very warm welcome to our new venture, we are looking forward to inspiring you over the coming months. Mary has given us a lovely first challenge.

When we, Mary, Annette and I talked about our first  challenge, Mary talked about a Vintage Challenge and my mind went straight to a photo I have had, hanging up on a string in my old scraproom...now the photo isn't of me it's of my mother, (Molly aged 5ish) with her family back in 1947, it was taken upon their arrival in Sydney from Launceston, Tas. I know very little other than what I've told you....but this pic so needed a new home other than hanging on a string!!!

Over the next few days all shall become clear about our little challenge blog.
Cheers Kim

It gives me great pleasure to introduce our First Guest DT Member for the month
Drum Roll...........

The lovely Jo Tritton

and a little about Jo

Hi, my name is Jo Tritton and I've been married for 28 years (I'm still trying to get my head around that!) & we have two wonderful young adults who are my greatest achievement, and they provide lots of inspiration for this addiction of mine. We also have two fur babies who tend to pop up in my layouts from time to time as well. I've been scrapping for 7 years now & still cannot define my own style. I always like to try new techniques & I like to have a go at many different styles. I tend to use distressing techniques and ink on a lot of my projects and I love all the new masks and templates that are available now.  Besides my family, I also love to scrap our travel photos (travel being my other passion). I find the art of paper crafting very therapeutic, liberating and challenging. This year I have been published in Scrapbooking Memories Magazine and Australian Scrapbook Creations Magazine. I've also recently been a Guest Design Team member with "Show Us Your Stuff" and a "Featured Member" on The Scrapboxx. I am humbled and excited to be asked to be one of the first Guest Designers for Orange Paperie & Co. It's the wonderful people that I get to meet through scrapbooking that makes the journey so worthwhile.

and Jo's gorgeous layout

This is a layout of Jo's Mum

Beautiful , Love the cluster and the little Peter Rabbit Button
Thank You Jo for being our first Guest Designer

So lovelies get inspired and create your awesome vintage beauties. Mr Linky will be added to the side panel over the weekend and the DEVINE Miss Annette will add her inspiration in the next few days.

Entry closes on the last day of the month.

Cheers from the OP&C crew and a huge thanks to our wonderful, Guest Designer Jo
